Tantric Quest, by Daniel Odier, is my favourite of the dozens of books I've read about Tantra. It's a first person account of a traditional Tantric initiation, very much like my own-- of course it's the mirror image because he's  a man and therefore had a woman teacher. But it's beautifully written and so tender that I found myself in tears many times while reading it.
Tantric Awakening, by Valerie Brooks, is an account by a 20-ish Valley Girl of her initiation into Tantra-- very different from Odier's. She is callow and superficial at times, and her descriptions of her experiences are too "typical" for me to take her seriously. But Ian says this books is writtern for Americans, with a very American perspective, and he likes it.
The modern classic, however, is The Jewel in the Lotus, by Sunyata Saraswati and Bodhi Avinasha, and you couldn't go wrong starting with it.
